Hexgate

Hexgate is a logic deduction game on a honeycomb grid: each numbered hex counts the golden gates touching it, and your job is to work out the whole hidden pattern from the clues alone. Every board is generated by a solver that proves it can be finished by pure deduction, so a careful player never has to guess. Play the date-seeded Daily puzzle that everyone gets, or climb Free Run from a pocket grid to a 61-hex board, with Pip the Gatekeeper cheering, worrying, and going dizzy right along with you. These are the kind of puzzle games that reward a second look: count twice, tap once, and watch the gates swing open.

About this game

How to play

  1. Each numbered hex is a clue: its number counts the golden gates touching it.
  2. Tap Open Mode, then tap a hex you have deduced must be a gate.
  3. Tap Mark Mode, then tap a hex you believe is empty to place an X.
  4. Open every golden gate to win. Opening an empty hex costs a strike — three strikes ends the run.
  5. Daily gives everyone the same date-seeded board; Free Run climbs from small to large grids.
  6. Stuck? Hint reveals one hex the clues already prove.

Tips

  • A clue showing 0 means every hex around it is empty — mark them all.
  • If a clue still needs as many gates as it has hidden neighbours, they are all gates.
  • Compare two overlapping clues: the hexes only one clue sees carry the difference.
