About this game
The Guestbook is a cozy narrative mystery set in a 1920s inn: every stay generates a new branching story of who stayed, what vanished, and which entry lies. Read the guestbook, cross-check each midnight line against the verified house facts, and name the truth — with a fresh daily mystery and endless free runs, it is one of the most replayable puzzle games for armchair sleuths.
How to play
- Read the story: something has vanished from the inn overnight, and one guest took it.
- Read every guestbook entry. Each guest writes where they were at midnight.
- Read the house facts. Exactly one entry contradicts exactly one fact — that entry is the lie.
- Tap the lying entry, tap the fact that exposes it, tap the guest who wrote it, then press Name the truth.
- Solve all 3 mysteries in a run. A clean solve with no wrong verdicts and no hints earns a bonus.
- Try the Daily Mystery for three fresh cases, same for every reader today, or Free Run for endless inns.
Tips
- Read every midnight line before naming anyone: the lie hides in one line, not in the flavor.
- A strange detail is not a lie — only a direct clash with a house fact counts.
- Ask Mabel for a hint if you are stuck; the first hint clears one innocent guest.
- Keys 1-6 flag entries in order, H asks Mabel, Enter names the truth when all three picks are set.
